7/06 Masvidal loses to Askren

7/20 Edwards/RDS fight

If Edwards wins or loses, it's the perfect situation for the Masvidal fight.

Wow!

Luck city for Masvidal. That was his only way to win unless he somehow miracled (new word) a decision after getting mauled for 3 rounds.

Now people will say Masvidal is better than Askren b/c he beat him.... via flying 2-second fluke.

Waited months for that fight and can't believe Askren put his head on a plate for a flying knee.... lol.

Really is a shame b/c he would've been eaten alive.

Hard to think of greater luck in the history of sports even. It's like Anthony Smith running in with a flying knee and knocking out Bones Jones, lol.

Smith can't beat Jones in a million years.

MattyMatt, the old country hick. As usual nothing of merit to say.

If McGregor had run in with a flying knee and knocked out Khabib, then you'd probably be propping up McGregor. But McGregor has no chance to beat Khabib... unless luck city.

Funny to see Luckvidal gloating. He had two losses, then faced Till who is not a top 5 guy. Then he lucks out versus Askren. His real ranking should be #10 or so but sometimes the stars align.

luck? or practice meeting opportunity? pretty sure they trained over and over and over again as what to do when Askren shoots in for a take down - if they fought again i would like Askren - and i would guarantee he would not just recklessly shoot in for take downs without any set up

Lolz. Tell me if they do it 100 times, how many times does he get knocked out cold? 1 time if he's lucky.

Don't sit here and say if they did it 100 times that he'd get it 5 times out of 100. Lol. That would be laughably absurd.

The odds of getting a kickoff TD on the opening play are something absurd. Maybe 46-1. I'd have to check. This fluke event had even greater odds.

One thing that is not a fluke is Rockhold's chin and arrogance.

Although the timing was different, the Masvidal fight reminds me of that Black Beast fight where he was down 3-0 on the scorecards and getting killed points wise with no chance to win unless a KO... and the Russian engages with him for the last 30 seconds just so he can eat a bomb from a likely 270 monster.

Masvidal got lucky. What can you say?

If Masvidal is to fight an NFL wide receiver and the guy runs in with a flying knee and knocks out Masvidal.... is that wide receiver better than Masvidal? Of course not.

You can get lucky with one shot; ie, Wonderboy's loss where he was completely dominating and then there's that lucky punch. How anyone can watch that fight and think Wonderboy is not the better fighter... delusional. But shit happens.

But fluke flying knee in 2 seconds.... ? That is even beyond a fluke superman punch.

Masvidal's true ranking is no better than #6 at 170 lbs.... and he probably should be around #10. But hey, Bisping fluked a title and then got exposed by GSP and Gastelum. So anything can happen.

Masvidal is a punk with 13 loses...that shot and being that quick against a star like Ben is one in a million. I feel Ben would grapple the hell out of him if they fought again, but you never ever come in with your head down

Askren doesnt fight bro lol. He puts his face in another man’s crotch and hope he gets tired. That’s not fighting. He got what he deserved.

The win he had against Robbie Lawler was a farce

I didn’t care for his antics after the fight either, however, they’ve been jabbing at each other for awhile now, and Lawler is a teammate and training partner of Jorge and has been for years and years, so there was a lot more riding on this fight other than just fighting Ben. Hell, Jorge has a nice
little run going, and the way things are shaping up, he may be lining himself up for something big, and a long time coming...

Jorge doesn’t act like a punk while training at ATT or in his daily life in S. Fla. Sure, he came from the streets, but the hard work has paid off, and it’s beginning to finally show...
